OBC's Bus Trip to OSU Fermentation Sciences Lab Tour

On the morning of October 10th, 2015, the OBC is heading down to Corvallis for a sensory training lab and tour of the research pilot brewing facilities at OSU's Fermentation Sciences Lab.

Professor Tom Shellhammer will be dropping all sorts of knowledge on us as we taste, smell, and drink our way through his world for 3 hours.

After our tour and tasting you will be dropped off in downtown Corvallis where you will be turned loose to roam the streets and find a lunch spot.  (Lunch is not included in your registration fee).

Block 15, Flat Tail Brewing, Sky High Brewing, and Oregon Trail Brewing are all within a few blocks of each other and all have good food at varying prices.

I've arranged a tour of Oregon Trail Brewing at roughly 1pm.  They are in the same building as Old World Deli so we can grab some good food too.  This tour isn't mandatory so feel free to find other stuff to do if you want.

You can walk around and check out the breweries and even visit Corvallis Brewing Supply until our bus leaves for home at 3:30pm.

The cost for the trip is $20 for OBC members and $45 for non-members.  The cost for non-members is higher because the club is subsidizing the price for members.  The registration fee is fully refundable up to 72 hours prior to departure; however, there will be no refunds after that time. NO EXCEPTIONS.

The registration fee will cover the cost of transportation and snacks/water on the bus.  However, beer and lunch is NOT covered in the registration fee - everyone is on their own for all drink and food purchases.

Please note that you are allowed to bring food and beer on the bus (no kegs), but we ask that you please drink in moderation.

The bus will depart bright and early from the Lloyd Center MAX Station promptly at 8:00 a.m.  You can ride MAX or park in the mall's lot (unofficially).
We plan to be back at Lloyd Mall by 6pm.

Space is limited to 30 people.

Some fine print:
You must be signed into your personal account on the OBC website in order to register for the discounted member price. If you are not signed in to your account, you will only see the non-member price. Use the reset password link with your club contact email if you have problems signing in.

Club members may also sign-up a non-member guest during the registration process if they wish. If both members of a Family Membership wish to attend they will need to register from each person's personal account as Family Memberships consist of two separate, but bundled, membership accounts.

Payments will only be accepted online with a credit card or Paypal. If you are unable to make payment via either of these methods, please contact the club Treasurer to make alternate arrangements.

Portions of this trip will be spent in various brewing areas at different locations. As a safety precaution, all participants should wear appropriate shoes that have enclosed toes and good traction to prevent slipping.

If you find the trip is full and would like to be placed on the waiting list, please email this bus trip organizer, Jason Barker.

We are aware that this is the same date as Mark Easton's BJCP tasting exam.  Unfortunately this was the only date that OSU had available dating back several months ago.  If you've already committed to take the test, then take the test!  Don't even think about backing out on Mr. Easton because I will find out and not even allow you to register for this trip.  Besides, even though I am bigger than Mark, I hear he has a mean karate chop and I do NOT want to mess with that!

I know I know, it sucks that we have 2 cool events on the same day but it absolutely could not be avoided.  OSU will always be there and we will probably schedule another trip there in the future.
