OBC's Fall Bus Trip to Oregon State University
The OBC is heading down to Corvallis for an educational workshop, brewhouse tour, and a couple of brewpub stops on September 22, 2012. Are you on the bus? If not, here is your chance to join the fun.
On the morning of September 22nd, we will travel to the OSU campus for 2.5 hours for a workshop on identifying and understanding the origin of off-flavors in beer followed by a tour of the campus pilot plant brewhouse. The OSU pilot plant has a state-of-the-art, two-barrel, temperature-controlled brewing system and a mini-malter that is used by students for brewing and research projects. We will also have a chance to sample some of the experimental beers brewed at the pilot plant. Afterwards, we will head over to Calapooia Brewing in Albany for lunch and stop at another brewpub (to be determined) on the return trip to Portland later that afternoon.
The cost for the trip is $20 for OBC members and $40 for non-members. The cost for non-members is higher because the club is subsidizing the price for members. The registration fee is fully refundable up to 48 hours prior to departure; however, there will be no refunds after that time. NO EXCEPTIONS.
The registration fee will cover the cost of transportation, workshop materials, and snacks/water on the bus. Food and beer at the brewpub stops is not covered in the registration fee, however. Everyone is on their own for lunch and all drinks at the brewpubs (Calapooia will have a hamburger/veggie burger lunch special that will be available for purchase in addition to its standard menu).
Please note that you are allowed to bring beer on the bus (no kegs), but we ask that you please drink in moderation.
The bus will depart bright and early from the Green Dragon promptly at 8:00 a.m. and return to the same location by 8:00 p.m. on September 22nd. Space is limited.
Some fine print:
You must be signed in to your personal account on the OBC website in order to register for the discounted member price. If you are not signed in to your account, you will only see the non-member price. Use the reset password link with your club contact email if you have problems signing in.
Club members may also sign up a non-member guest during the registration process if they wish. If both members of a Family Membership wish to attend they will need to register from each person's personal account as Family Memberships consist of two separate, but bundled, membership accounts.
Payments will only be accepted online with a credit card or Paypal. If you are unable to make payment via either of these methods, please contact the club Treasurer to make alternate arrangements.
If you find the trip is full and would like to be placed on the waiting list, please email our bus trip organizer,
Warren (Roadtrip) Johnson.
