Presidential Pint
I hope you have enjoyed some winter warmers recently, we certainly needed it here in the Pacific Northwest. My latest favorite is Cherries Jubelale, an awesome new variant released by Deschutes last year. It has been four years since my last OBC newsletter and wow, has our club and our world changed! First of all, a huge Thank You to Jon Campbell and the previous board which has steered the club through the difficult “Covid years”.
To briefly summarize the goals of the board in 2023, we are hoping to get things back to pre-Covid routines with more group events (bus trips, Homebrew Con, camping) as well as a renewed drive around brewing and competing, collaborating with other clubs, rethinking how we reward participation and volunteerism, and our role in the brewing community. We will continue to bring you unique educational content and judging opportunities, better online resources and many more social outings such as our monthly “B Meetings”. Rather than focus on growing our club back to 300 members as I had mentioned at the November meeting, we will instead work on making the experience of OBC membership the best it can be for the 143 members we have as of this writing. Some things will change but many will stay the same.
I look forward to sharing a beer with you in the coming months, and getting all of you more involved in club events and operations. You can email any of the board members individually or as a group at board@obc.beer if you have any ideas to share! Cheers to the New Year!
